Brad Pitt & Angelina Jolie

Well kind of…

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt put out a joint statement, stating that they have both signed agreements to keep all of their court documents private

“The parties and their counsel have signed agreements to preserve the privacy rights of their children and family by keeping all court documents confidential and engaging a private judge to make any necessary legal decisions and to facilitate the expeditious resolution of any remaining issues,” the statement from the actors reads. “The parents are committed to act as a united front to effectuate recovery and reunification.”

This joint statement is the first released statement from Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt together since news broke that the actress filed for divorce from Brad on September 19, 2016. Since the split, the former Hollywood power couple have been in a bitter legal custody battle over their six children — Maddox, 15, Pax, 13, Zahara, 11, Shiloh, 10, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 8.

Brad Pitt presented a clip from Moonlight at the Sunday’s Golden Globes, where he was received by a cheering audience — most of all, his Ocean’s Eleven co-star, Matt Damon.  Brad Pitt’s production company, Plan B Entertainment, helped to produce the critically-acclaimed film.

On a side note, did you watch their movie ‘By the Sea’? Well aside from the fact that it was painful (very boring) to watch, I dare say they were subtly trying to tell us that all was not well in ‘paradise’.

According to several news outlets, the former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs. Diezani Alison- Madueke allegedly siphoned the sum of $153,310,000m from the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) and stashed the said amount in three banks in the country. The banks implicated are Access Bank Plc, Sterling Bank Plc and First Bank Plc.

Justice Muslim Hassan of the Federal High Court in Lagos on Friday, ordered the temporary forfeiture of the monies to the Federal Government pending the 14days grace period given to representatives of the aforementioned banks to appear before him to prove the legitimacy of the monies. Failure to do so will mean that the funds would be permanently forfeited to the Federal Government (FG).

The judge made this order following the application made by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Friday requesting an ex parte application seeking the temporary forfeiture of the monies.

Cases like this are clear examples of how ‘knee deep’ in corruption the Nigerian government is. The funds could not have been moved by Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke alone, she must have cohorts. We hope that this is not going to be one of the many ‘recovered loot’ stories that will never see the light of day.

On a side note, if the monies are permanently forfeited to the Federal Government, how will these funds be spent? In what way will it positively impact the lives of Nigerians? Do we not deserve to know how the funds will be allocated?

Organic Skin lightening treatments are becoming more and more popular, but many people don’t know what they’re really all about or why certain people choose to get them. For some, it’s because they have skin conditions or problematic complexions that they want to correct; others just want to look better in their own eyes, and use skin lightening treatments to simply feel more comfortable in their own skin. It’s a misconception that you have to have skin problems in order to use lightening treatments; though many people that suffer from complexion related problems benefit from organic skin lightening treatments.
Problems like hyper pigmentation, melasma, acne scars and uneven skin tone can be treated with Organic skin lightening treatments. Even severe cases of these often serious skin conditions can be treated.

Skin Lightening has numerous advantages, among them are:

  • Psychological Advantages: Skin problems like hyper pigmentation, eczema and acne scars can take a psychological toll on their sufferers, even though the people who suffer from these skin problems have them through no fault of their own. Many people that suffer from skin problems for years can develop low self-esteem and begin to feel like they’re unattractive to the opposite sex or simply look different than everybody else.
Using effective skin lightening treatments can help to get rid of many of the psychological problems that are associated with skin conditions by simply getting rid of the skin condition or drastically improving it in a short period of time. Many people who undergo skin lightening treatments feel an almost immediate rise in their self-esteem and confidence.
  • Confidence: Your confidence level is increased knowing that you look your best, even if it’s just for you. After all, it’s a tough world, and maintaining healthy looking skin and a healthy appearance can open doors for you, whether you’re male or female. For many people, the confidence that skin lightening treatments bring; simply knowing that they look their best every single day, is worth much more than the price of the products needed to acquire it. In the past, certain skin lightening treatments had a bad reputation, but today’s skin lightening treatments are not nearly as harsh as the prescription products of the past. Now, many skin lightening treatments contain ingredients that can actually help your skin to look younger. The most common ingredients found in skin lightening treatments that can help your skin to look younger are vitamin C, alpha hydroxy acids, which can actually stimulate the growth of new collagen in the skin, and bearberry extract; a natural ingredient that contains antioxidants known to kill free radicals that can damage the skin and cause wrinkles. Many people who use skin lightening products also feel that the actual lightening of their skin gives them a younger, more vibrant appearance, especially if they had age spots or blemish spots before using the lightening treatment.

Leading with a paunch has become au courant. Like bay windows on architectural masterpieces, the pot belly has become a “design” in vogue. In this era of padded underwear and enhancing body garments, one cannot help but wonder if there is a new addition to the line – the gut pads. I recently attended a function and out of sheer curiosity, I

began counting the number of people with protruding midsections. The outcome was illuminating! Every 3 out of 5 individuals, male and female  inclusive were endowed in that department.
Pot belly (Abdominal obesity) is the presence of excess fat in the abdominal cavity. The visceral fat located around the internal organs is the culprit in this case. Having the extra padding set up shop in your midsection does more than ruin your chances of winning a
swim suit competition. It has been associated with high blood pressure, cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, high cholesterol, erectile dysfunction and cancer all of which significantly affect quality of life and life expectancy.
Age: Men and women experience a reduced rate of metabolism as they grow older because of a decline in sex hormones. As the rate of metabolism decreases, the tendency for fat storage increases.
Gender: Women and men metabolize and store fat differently because of their hormonal differences. While women tend to store fat in their hips, thighs and buttocks (subcutaneous fat), men store fat in their abdomen (visceral fat).
Net Energy Imbalance: Consuming more usable calories than is expended while leading a sedentary lifestyle devoid of exercise flings the doors wide open for some belly fat lurking in the shadows.
Genetics: The pear shaped individuals tend to store more fat below the waist in their hips, thighs and buttocks while the apple shaped people store more fat above the waist around their midsection. The chances of having a pot belly are higher in the “Apples”.
Hormonal Imbalance and Stress: Excess cortisol; a hormone secreted under stress and hormonal imbalance activates fat-storage enzymes in cells can lead to the dreaded spare tyre.
Poor Sleeping Habit: Lack of sleep causes the body to release more of the hormone that signals hunger (ghrelin) and less of the hormone that suppresses appetite (leptin). Sleep deprivation triggers high release of cortisol which stimulates appetite.
Nutrition: Eating high-fat diets and LARGE amounts of refined carbohydrates have been found to cause an increase waist circumference.
A simple way to assess abdominal obesity is to measure the waist circumference using a tape measure at the navel. A reading greater than 102cm (40 inches) and 88 cm (35 inches) in men and women respectively indicate a high risk of abdominal obesity. A waist-to-hip
ratio (WHR) is another useful tool of assessment. It is the division of the waist measurement by the hip measurement. A WHR higher than 0.80 in women and 0.90 in men suggests a high risk of being potbellied.
The real secret to losing belly fat is lifestyle modification; diet, exercise, sleep, and stress management.
    –  A balanced, calorie-controlled diet with emphasis on complex and unrefined carbohydrates, protein, unsaturated fats and Omega-3 fatty acids is a good start on the journey to getting rid of a pot belly. Drink a lot of water while you are at it.
    – Moderate – high intensity exercise (at least 30 minutes to 1 hour a day) daily is one way to lose visceral fat.
    – Getting about 7 hours of sleep a night is one of the best things you can do to get your beach body.
    – Pace yourself, make time for recreation.

According to the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed through a statement released on Thursday 29th December; 40 new SUVs were recovered from a former Permanent Secretary who singlehandedly appropriated the vehicles to himself when he left office.

The question is how such an act was perpetrated without due process. Or how does one person make such a decision without raising eyebrows or acting in tandem with accomplices? This clearly shows a huge defect in the system and this “nameless” Permanent Secretary could not possibly be the first or only one to perform such a dastardly act. Where is the EFCC when you need them? or is this just one of those “flash in the pan” stories that are released to distract Nigerians from real issues which will ultimately be swept under the rug.

As long as this Permanent Secretary remains nameless and is not ‘brought to book’ publicly, it will continue to remain ‘business as usual’ for our corrupt politicians. It is absurd to tell Nigerians to ‘tighten their belts’ in the face of an economic recession when the real leakages are from those who ought to protect our interests.

We appreciate the work being done to apprehend looters but it is not enough to announce the discovery of fraud or corruption without the necessary prosecution. This Permanent Secretary suspected he would get away with the ‘stealing’ of 40 SUVs and I am afraid he just might be right.

The Triple MG mega star born ‘Augustine Miles Kelechi’ otherwise known as TEKNO has had a fantastic year churning out hits after hits, signing a record deal with Sony Music and several brand endorsement deals like MTN, Pepsi to mention a few.

The ‘Pana’ crooner who has had his fair share of social media drama and kept us all entertained on Instagram with his various antics, has also been noticed by BILLBOARD magazine. Tekno is on their list of 10 Hip Hop and R&B artistes to watch out for in 2017. He happens to be the only Nigerian on that list joined by artistes such as Kehlani, Leela James and Guordon Banks.

According to BILLBOARD magazine:

“Tekno  has a number of hits in Nigeria and his number one hit “Pana” has accumulated more than 13 million views on Youtube. There is clearly a demand in the mainstream for feathery dance cuts like this one.”

We cannot wait to see what the year 2017 has in store for this very talented young man.

In response to the diverse reaction of Nigerians to the one month ‘freeze’, MMM Nigeria after an emergency meeting, are reconsidering their stance on this issue. They plan to release some Mavros in batches before the 30 days release date. However, participants cannot solicit or render help as the administration is using this period to tackle other support issues “as stated by the operators”

MMM Nigeria operators still maintain that the ‘freeze’ will help them come up with a new model that will help the community sustainable in Nigeria. The leadership of the scheme in Nigeria claims that the progress or failure of the scheme is solely dependent on the participants. Their expectation determines the future
